It’s every inbound marketer's worst nightmare: A new client walks through the doors giddy about the new design and direction of their website. They have enthusiastic input about what colors they want to see in their logo, how they want their website to make clients feel, where the social media buttons should go, and a hodgepodge of other changes that cover every nook and cranny of the website.
After the launch, they can’t wait to play with their new toy. The initial call for the marketing campaign goes great. They talk and talk and talk about the types of content they’d like to see on their site and have researched their competitors’ every blog post back to 2010.
Then without warning it happens… silence.
The emails back and forth slowly dwindle and the workspace begins to look like an Old West ghost town. Christmas is now over and Mom and Dad are cleaning up the wrapping paper.
And the marketing agency is left thinking this:
For me, it’s a terrible feeling when I realize that clients have lost interest being involved with their online marketing campaign. Although it may seem like it, improving your website conversions isn’t as easy as simply flipping a few switches and pushing a “magic button.”
Between developing content strategy, scouring through website analytics, building social relationships, and optimizing site keywords, there's a lot of work to be done. On average it takes about 6 - 12 months for your website to start becoming a reliable source of generating more leads.
What I'm trying to get at is there are no quick overnight solutions.
