Facebook Marketing Tips for your Small Business

With roughly 10 billion users, there is no denying the fact that Facebook is the most popular social network in the world. No matter where you live, especially if in the United States, finding a way to market your small business via Facebook is essential.

While Facebook marketing for your small business is a great way to increase your customer base and drive profits, there are several details you should be aware of.

Before we go any further, make a list of your top three competitors and then take a closer look at their Facebook presence. You may be surprised at what you find. You may be surprised to learn that your competition is already using this social network to their advantage.

Despite the fact that you may be “playing from behind,” there are several marketing tips you can follow to catch up over time.

Exercise some Patience

Many small businesses look at social media marketing as a method to immediately increase brand awareness and sales. While you may find some early success, it is important to exercise some patience.

Anybody who promises wild Facebook success after a couple of days is lying to you. Social media is all about creating relationships, sharing information, and giving your strategy time to work.

If you are not in it for the long haul, you might as well not be in the game at all.

Don’t go Overboard

As tempting as it may be to turn your Facebook page into a marketing machine, you must take a step back and realize that this could put people off.

As noted above, you should be using Facebook to create relationships with others. This does not mean sending them one link after the next in an attempt to push them to your store or purchase something from you online.

Subtle marketing is key. Once you build a relationship with your audience, you can then begin to market your products and/or services to them.

Make Time or Hire a Professional

Facebook is not one of those marketing vehicles you should use today and then forget about for several weeks. If you are not making time to focus on this side of your marketing plan you are missing out on the potential to do big things.

But I don’t have the time to focus on social media marketing. This is a common, yet valid excuse. Rather than give up altogether, hire a social media management company that can handle everything for you.

Final Word on Facebook Marketing

With this advice, you should be in better position to market your small business on Facebook. As long as you create a killer strategy, follow through with your ideas, and exercise some patience, the results will come soon enough.
